My American Internship: Rodrigue M. of France

Our "My American Internship" series features CIEE BridgeUSA participants who submitted entries to our photo essay contest. Rodrigue M. of France served as a photography and videography intern at Johnny Vacar Photography in Queens, New York.

As a photography intern in the U.S., I’ve had the chance to capture moments I never imagined I’d witness – from luxurious weddings, both big and intimate, to photographing high-end jewelry and even NFL players.

Every event felt like stepping into a new world, and each photo became part of a story I was lucky enough to tell through my lens.

What I’ve loved most is how this experience pushed me to grow not just creatively, but personally. I’ve become more open to people, more confident in my work, and more adaptable in fast-paced environments. I’ve learned how to work with clients, manage pressure, and see beauty in details I might have missed before.

This internship didn’t just teach me how to take better photos it taught me how to see differently.
