My American Internship: Rodrigue M. of France
Our "My American Internship" series features CIEE BridgeUSA participants who submitted entries to our photo essay contest. Rodrigue M. of France served as a photography and videography intern at Johnny Vacar Photography in Queens, New York.
As a photography intern in the U.S., I’ve had the chance to capture moments I never imagined I’d witness – from luxurious weddings, both big and intimate, to photographing high-end jewelry and even NFL players.
Every event felt like stepping into a new world, and each photo became part of a story I was lucky enough to tell through my lens.
What I’ve loved most is how this experience pushed me to grow – not just creatively, but personally. I’ve become more open to people, more confident in my work, and more adaptable in fast-paced environments. I’ve learned how to work with clients, manage pressure, and see beauty in details I might have missed before.
This internship didn’t just teach me how to take better photos – it taught me how to see differently.
