My American Internship: Naomi M. of Kenya

Our "My American Internship" series features CIEE BridgeUSA participants who submitted entries to our photo essay contest. Naomi M. of Kenya served as a food and beverage intern at JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District in Georgia.

My time in America during my internship was truly one of the most memorable and transformative experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and kindness that made me feel at home, even though I was miles away from my country.

Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to work with professionals who not only guided me but also encouraged my growth every step of the way. I gained valuable hands-on experience, improved my communication skills, and learned the importance of teamwork in a professional setting. Every day brought new lessons, challenges, and victories that shaped me both personally and professionally.

Beyond work, I was able to explore different cultures, make new friends from around the world, and experience life in a way I had only dreamed of before. The exposure helped me become more confident, independent, and open-minded. I truly believe this journey has laid a strong foundation for my future.

I would like to sincerely thank CIEE BridgeUSA for giving me this incredible opportunity. Their support throughout the process made everything smooth and enjoyable. Because of CIEE, I was able to step out of my comfort zone and into a world of possibilities. I will forever be grateful for the experience, the growth, and the unforgettable memories.
