Cristina’s academic background is in education with a focus on second language acquisition, pedagogy, and intercultural learning. She has taught in the United States, Brazil, and Puerto Rico, where she was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar and also coordinated the Multi-Language Learning Center at the Universidad del Este. Originally from the state of Minas Gerais, Ms. Salgado is fluent in English and Spanish and has also worked as a translator and in language proficiency assessment. She completed her Master´s Degree at Minnesota State University – Mankato and was a PhD qualifying candidate at the University of Minnesota, where she was advised by Michael Paige and other scholars in the fields of intercultural studies and education.  A dedicated international educator, in 2011 Cristina also completed the “Teaching Intercultural Effectiveness” course at the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication in Portland, Oregon.
