Interning in South Korea: Blair Guzman Shares Her Experience
Spending time studying and doing an internship abroad adds an amazing experience to an IU Southeast education. This summer I had the opportunity to do an internship through the Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE) in Seoul, South Korea.
Through this experience I learned how to navigate and elevate some of my soft skills such as independence, teamwork, professionalism, customer/client relationships, written and verbal communication, intercultural communication and understanding, as well as research and analytical skills within a foreign company. I gained a significant amount of knowledge on how to create advertisements for a business, how to market a business, and how to communicate in a foreign country where the primary language spoken is not English.
Guzman was able to participate in a variety of cultural activities while interning in Seoul, South Korea
CIEE, the program that brought me to South Korea, is a non-profit organization that promotes international education and cultural exchange programs for students, educators, and professionals by offering study abroad, internships, and work experiences in various countries. Many universities have partnered with CIEE, including IU.
