CIEE TEFL, which provides certification for Teaching English as a Foreign Language, has earned accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET), an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a reliable authority providing objective third-party evaluation of education and training practices.

To earn accreditation, CIEE TEFL completed a comprehensive Analytic Self-Evaluation Report (ASER) that included all aspects of its administrative and educational activities. An on-site review was completed by an examination team consisting of experts, including curriculum content specialists, a management/administration specialist, and a commission representative. The examination team reviewed CIEE TEFL’s administrative and educational activities to ensure that they meet ACCET standards, policies, and procedures.

“We’re proud that CIEE TEFL and its commitment to providing high-quality training in the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) has been recognized in this way,” said Matt Redman, VP of Teach Abroad & TEFL Programs. “Accreditation will help graduates of our TEFL courses with employment opportunities, as employers will know that CIEE TEFL’s courses meet ACCET’s high standards for curriculum, instructional delivery, and student services.”

CIEE TEFL, which offers four different course options with different levels of course hours, is now listed as an accredited educational institution in the U.S. Department of Education Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs.

CIEE TEFL courses offer small class sizes, with no more than 16 students per session, and dedicated class tutors.  The 150-hour and 180-hour TEFL courses provide a blended learning experience of online coursework and in-person practicum opportunities, exceeding international TEFL standards

In addition to preparing participants to teach English as a foreign language abroad, CIEE TEFL courses also provide intercultural training that prepares teachers to work in multicultural classrooms in their local communities or online.
