My American Internship: Thomas G. of France

Our "My American Internship" series features CIEE BridgeUSA participants who submitted entries to our photo essay contest. Thomas G. of France worked as a digital manager at Faraday Labs in Santa Monica, California.

Coming to the U.S. as part of the CIEE BridgeUSA Intern program has been nothing short of transformative. It wasn’t just about gaining experience in the office. It was about building a new life, one adventure at a time.

One of my favorite memories was skiing in Colorado with my new friends, none of whom I had known just a few months earlier. We bonded over shared love of winter sports and the thrill of exploring something new together.

Later, I had the chance to take my family visiting from France on a road trip to Sequoia National Park. Being able to share the natural beauty of California with them, especially those unique trees that make you feel both small and deeply alive, was a highlight I’ll never forget. I’ve returned three times since!

And finally, one surreal moment: recording a podcast with NBA superstar Rudy Gobert. As a marketer for a health tech brand, I got to work on campaigns that reached millions! It was an opportunity I never dreamed of before coming here.

I leave with not just stronger skills, but a deeper sense of who I am and who I want to become.
