(Open) Nonprofit Development & Communications Internship - Colors of Connection
Company overview
Colors of Connection is a non-profit organization pioneering the innovative work of arts-based programming for youth and communities in areas affected by conflict. Working with community and youth, we create murals in public spaces that express the hope and dreams of the residents. To date we have worked in West and Central Africa, specifically Liberia, Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as the refugee populations of the Ivory Coast and Mali. Our Future programming is focused on adolescent girls in Eastern Congo and refugee and immigrant youth in Seattle, Washington.
Internship overview
Intern will support the daily operations of running a small and growing non-profit, specifically in the areas of communications, fundraising, and organizational development. Projects and responsibilities include:
- Social media (strategizing and scheduling)
- Copywriting, both short (e.g. tweets) and longform (e.g. blog posts)
- Creating graphics (if qualified)
- Update and maintain Customer Relations Management software, Little Green Light
- Assist with expense entry in Quickbooks (if qualified)
- Maintaining current records in grant database Fluxx, including grant tracking and reporting.
- Assist with proposal writing and grant applications
- Assist with design of fundraising campaign for International Day of the Girl (Oct 11)
Suggested qualifications
- Sophomore status or above
- Relevant major (non-profit, advertising, international relations, arts management)
- Strong communication skills, particularly in professional writing
- Interest in the education and nonprofit industries
- Adobe Creative Suite skills (if interested in graphic design projects)
