CIEE Security Alert - France

Demonstrations and localized unrest have been reported across several cities in France, including Paris, Marseille, Rennes, and Toulouse, tied to ongoing student-led and public protests. Local authorities and riot police are responding to clashes, transit blockades, and scattered disruptions in affected areas.

CIEE staff in France are maintaining continuous communication with all CIEE participants. CIEE centers, and housing locations are currently operating normally, though localized travel delays may occur. Academic activities are currently operating normally or with alternative arrangements, including relocating classes and/or moving them online, implemented as needed to ensure academic continuity.

Participants have been advised to exercise increased caution, maintain situational awareness, avoid areas where demonstrations or crowd gatherings are taking place, and strictly follow the instructions of local authorities.

CIEE will continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with local contacts and our global security partners, and will provide updates if conditions change.
