CIEE Security Alert - China
CIEE is monitoring Tropical Storm Co-may (Typhoon No. 8) as it tracks northwestward over northeastern Zhejiang Province, China. Forecast models indicate that the storm will make land fall over Shanghai late July 30. The China Meteorological Administration has issued an Orange (third level on a four-tier scale) typhoon warning; heavy rain fall is likely across north-central Zhejiang, Shanghai, most of Jiangsu, eastern Anhui, and southern Shandong.
Shanghai has adjusted program operations for July 30th and 31st, requiring all participants to remain indoors and follow all local safety guidelines. CIEE classes will be held online during this time. CIEE Shanghai staff maintains continuous communications with all CIEE Shanghai participants. As this is an ongoing and developing situation, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in contact with our participants to ensure their ongoing safety.
