Dance to zydeco
Hundreds of years ago, French Creole-speaking people in Louisiana created an original genre of music called zydeco. It’s fast-paced dance music played traditionally on the fiddle, accordion, and washboard. Hear it live at the Blue Moon Saloon, or the Spotted Cat Music Club.

See the leaves change
In October and November, the leaves in certain areas in your region put on a spectacular show of yellow, orange, magenta, and red. Try these especially scenic routes through Oklahoma or Texas.
Eat apple pie

Honor service members on Veterans Day

Give thanks on Thanksgiving
On the last Thursday in November, gather with friends at a home or restaurant, express your thanks for what’s good in life, and eat a fabulous meal together. The traditional American Thanksgiving feast includes roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and pumpkin pie. Make reservations at a restaurant near you at Open Table.
Go to a football game
Watch the Houston Texans or the Dallas Cowboys play professional football, or cheer on college teams at the University of Oklahoma, Louisiana State University, the University of Arkansas, or the University of Texas at Austin. It’s also fun (and cheaper!) to watch games on TV with fans at a local sports bar.
Get lost in a corn maze
The United States grows more corn than any other country in the world. In the fall, many farmers invite visitors to make their way through a corn maze, an intricate path system carved into the cornfield. It’s a little scary – perfect for Halloween season – and a lot of fun.
