My American Internship: Tabata P. of Chile

Our "My American Internship" series features CIEE BridgeUSA participants who submitted entries to our photo essay contest. Tabata P. of Chile served as a front-desk intern at The Capitana Key West in Florida.

My American internship in Key West, Florida, was more than just work it was a tropical adventure full of flavor, sunsets, and vibrant culture.

As a front-desk intern at a hotel, I developed valuable hospitality skills while meeting people from all over the world. Outside of work, I explored turquoise waters on paddleboards, spotted iguanas sunbathing, and watched roosters walk casually through town.

The island is a melting pot of cultures Cuban coffee in the morning, Caribbean beats in the afternoon, and unforgettable sunsets at night. I met friends from Latin America, tried local dishes like empanadas and tostones, and learned something new every day.

Key West taught me to embrace cultural exchange, step out of my comfort zone, and enjoy every adventure. This internship gave me more than experience it gave me memories for a lifetime.
