Host Family Meeting!
I’ll have to admit, I was pretty nervous to meet the family I will be living with for the next academic year. They will be the ones who I will become closest to the trip, and I wasn’t entirely sure how to start such a relationship. Luckily though, CIEE surprised us program participants by inviting our host siblings to dinner with us one night. I met my host sister Teresa without having any nerves to start with. And it turned out that there was no reason to be nervous at all. Teresa took me and my friends out to a restaurant with delicious tapas as she told us about the ins and outs of high school life in Spain. Suddenly, I was excited to meet the rest of the family the next day. When I finally met up with them, it was a smooth transition into Spanish life. Sure it is hard to understand one another at times, but their hospitality and welcome attitudes made it easy for me to adjust. I’m excited to live my new Spanish life with my new family!
