High School Abroad in Spain

This post is student written by Finley B. who participated in an Academic Year Abroad in Seville, Spain and was an Ambassador Abroad!

Granada is a stunning city that sits at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. In Granada, there are many historical sites, and it is home to the Alhambra Palace. The views of the snow-capped mountains are breathtaking.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to spend a weekend away in Granada, Spain! I went to Granada with CIEE and all the other students studying abroad. I loved seeing a different part of Spain, and Granada was so pretty! I definitely fell in love with Granada, and it's one of my favorite places I've visited while being in Spain. I also had not seen mountains in a couple of months, so that was a relief!

I think Granada is an amazing city, and anyone who goes to Spain should spend some time there!

Saturday

On Saturday, I woke up early and took the metro to meet the group of CIEE students. From there, we boarded a bus for a fun ride to Granada, stopping at a restaurant along the way for breakfast. Once we arrived in Granada, we settled into a very nice hotel. After getting settled, we immediately set out to explore the city!

First, we enjoyed a beautiful tour of the Albaicín neighborhood, stopping at several scenic viewpoints to take in stunning views of the mountains and the Alhambra Palace. Later, we visited a convent where cloistered nuns bake and sell sweet treats. We also wandered through the famous Arabic market streets.

After our busy day of sightseeing, we returned to the hotel for a lovely dinner before heading to bed to rest up for the next adventure.

Sunday

On Sunday, we started the day off slowly and enjoyed a lovely breakfast provided by the hotel. I personally went for the chocolate and churros option. After breakfast, we set out again, heading to the stunning Generalife gardens. It was so beautiful that I could have spent the entire day wandering around.

Next, we walked to the Alhambra Palace and toured all of its magnificent halls, taking in all the architecture. After the tour, we had some free time to grab a snack and explore some of the streets, lined with trees that were changing colors for fall.

We then made our way back to the hotel for one last meal before boarding the bus and heading back to Sevilla.
