CIEE is Celebrating 80 Years!
On May 8, 2026, we begin our 80th year of advancing peace by building bridges of mutual respect and understanding through international educational exchange programs. To celebrate eight decades of helping young people embrace new people, nations, and cultures, we share three exciting initiatives:
1. CIEE's 80th Anniversary Fund for Global Education
To commemorate CIEE's 80th anniversary, we plan to raise $5 million to increase access to study abroad for high school and college students. The CIEE Board of Directors has voted to match gifts that support study abroad scholarships up to $5 million, creating a total of $10 million in new scholarships.
2. CIEE College First Year Abroad Program New Pricing @ $8,080 for Fall Semester!
Research shows that only 2% of high school students and 6% of college students study abroad, mostly due to three barriers – cost, curriculum, and culture. And yet, the research is also clear that a study abroad experience provides a lifetime of benefits including advantages in college admissions, enhanced career placement upon college graduation, and higher lifetime career earnings. To help overcome these barriers and to celebrate our 80th Anniversary, CIEE’s College First Year Abroad programs for the fall semester will be offered at $8,080/semester.
- Students pay only $8,080/ fall semester for a first-year college semester abroad with the oldest, largest and most trusted nonprofit study abroad provider.
- Students receive 12-14 college credits from Tulane University, our School of Record, and can transfer these credits to most US colleges and universities.
- Students choose from 13 international cities, including Copenhagen, London, Madrid, Seville, Paris, Prague, Florence, Rome, Buenos Aires, Monteverde, Merida, Kyoto, and Seoul.
3. CIEE to Fund 80 Paid Global Internships
To recognize the importance of global internships for all students, including those from challenging economic backgrounds, CIEE is pleased to extend our pilot program of funding paid international internships for a second year. We will fund a paid semester internship abroad for 80 recent college students or recent graduates. These students will have the opportunity to gain real-world work experience and strengthen their intercultural skills with an internship in one of CIEE's 45 international locations.
We will share more on each of these initiatives in the coming weeks.
Thank you for being part of the global CIEE community and helping us advance our timeless mission.
