The Destination
Welcome to Milan, a modern city where tradition meets innovation, and inspiration is around every corner.
In northern Italy, Milan’s rich history spans over two thousand years. Founded by the Celts in the 6th century B.C., it was once the capital of the Western Roman Empire and later became a major financial center during the Renaissance. As early as the Middle Ages, Milan was a major center of trade and textile production in northern Italy, known for silk and craftsmanship. By the 19th and 20th centuries, the city had become one of Italy’s leading industrial centers, where manufacturing and design evolved side by side. Today, its history is evident in its status as a global capital of fashion, art, and design.
Sip espresso and try every gelato flavor you can find while people-watching in the piazzas. Pop into artisan boutiques in neighborhoods like Brera, known for its narrow streets, art galleries, and creative energy. And don’t forget to explore Northern Italy’s culinary delights! Enjoy risotto alla Milanese, a saffron-infused rice dish made with Parmesan cheese, or a classic cotoletta, a crispy, breaded cutlet and a regional staple.
