High School Abroad in Spain

One of the amazing experiences I am happy to have been a part of during my stay in Spain is the trip to Morocco! This was, in my opinion, one of the most eye-opening experiences I've had despite it only lasting about three days. Since I am part of the Madrid group we arrived on a plane in Tangier where we met our tour guide, a guy who happened to grow up not too far from me. Then we started our voyage through the country. Our first stop was Asilah to talk to some college students about their views, however, we took a small detour first to ride camels. It was my frists ever camel ride and it was very fun but also scary when the camels first started standing, my phone also fell out of my pocket so we had to take a small trip to find it. After that we went to Rabat, the capital and where we stayed most of the time, once there we split into groups of three and went to meet our Moroccan host families. In my opinion, the experience would have been very different if we had not stayed with host families because that was an up-close view of how people live there. The next day we went on to a lot of tourist areas to visit but that afternoon we went to talk to more college students, two of which I am still in contact with, then to the house of a peace corps volunteer and lastly to a hammam. If you do not know what a hammam is, it is a public bathhouse where you generally use these gloves that remove ALL of the dead skin, I've never felt cleaner. Lastly, we went to the Rif mountains where we talked to a local rural family then came our visit to Chefchaouen, the blue city. We did not get to spend much time there but it is an amazing city with great people, unique stores and amazing food. Sadly, after that came the time to say goodbye to Morocco but I will never forget the experiences and things I tried there.
