The Destination
Seeking for a life changing experience in Spain? Seville is your destination. Live in Seville and explore the rich, intimate streets of the city, and fall in love with the heart of Andalucía. Discover a city brimming with life and history and learn how it has evolved through the centuries and inspired the rest of the world.
Seville is a welcoming city that will captivate you immediately. Enjoy the tranquility of the city and wander the streets during the day, taking in the Guadalquivir River, followed by tapas and flamenco, the highest form of art and expression in Southern Spain. Visit some of the top national historical landmarks in Spain such as the Plaza de España, The Royal Alcazar, the Torre del Oro, the neighborhood of Triana and many more. Seville is a city that will take you back to its cultural past as well as its modernizing present while offering you a great social lifestyle.
CIEE wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local CIEE staff have provided details about conditions and cultural attitudes that students with marginalized identities might encounter in Seville.
Students may study in Seville for a maximum of 12 weeks (fall or spring).
Excursions & Activities
Ample activities and daytrips will be offered to immerse you in Spain´s culture and historical heritage. Each semester typically includes one overnight and three daytrips.
- Granada, famous for being home to the Alhambra, offers grand Islamic architecture, a world-famous tapas culture and outstanding counterculture street art.
- Explore Cordoba and be impressed by its fantastic Cathedral-Mosque, its marvelous patios, and its four UNESCO-protected sites.
- Be charmed by Ronda, with its narrow streets, emblematic bridge, houses on the edge of the canyon, and more.
- Explore the shores of the Mediterranean in Malaga, the birthplace of Pablo Picasso.
Check out some of the many famous landmarks in Seville, like the Plaza de España. Designed for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition, the shape of Plaza de España is a semi-circle, surrounded by a row of buildings that today are, for the most part, used as government institutions. If it looks familiar, it’s because it was the set of planet Naboo in Star Wars Episode 2!
Please note this list of activities is based on past programs and subject to change at CIEE's discretion to both adapt to local circumstances and participant feedback. Our goal when revising itineraries is always to enhance your experience. Every activity is designed to provide you with a deep immersion in your topic, local culture and sights.
