History & Culture in Rabat
School Trip Abroad with CIEE
Immerse yourself in Rabat, one of the world’s most captivating cultural capitals!
From ancient Roman ruins and Amazigh mountain villages to the winding souks of Marrakech, Morocco offers the ideal location for a place-based learning experience like no other. Over nine days, you and your students will wander through preserved ruins, apprentice in a traditional artisan workshop, and visit Rabat’s most iconic sites. You’ll immerse yourself in the culture, too. Taste traditional Moroccan flavors like tagine, zalouk, makouda, and refreshing mint tea before connecting with local peers at Harhoura Beach for an evening of music, dance, and games.
After your time in Rabat, you and your students will return home with a deep appreciation for Moroccan culture, heritage, and history.
The Destination
Welcome to Rabat, a coastal capital where centuries of history and tradition come together.
Situated on the Atlantic Coast, Rabat is the capital city where ancient history meets modern life. This coastal town offers a unique blend of traditional and contemporary architecture, lush gardens, and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere.
Dating back to its 10th-century origins, Rabat reveals historical significance at every turn. Its streets present a cultural mosaic of styles, from old-world marketplaces to the elegant lines of French Colonial architecture. Here, you’ll explore landmarks like Hassan Tower and the blue-and-white Kasbah of the Udayas, where monumental architecture and daily life feel beautifully intertwined.
