“Texas Thespian Festival” - an unforgettable US acting experience
I spent the most unforgettable 3 days of November at the "Texas Thespians Festival" in San Antonio. I will always remember it as the most vivid introduction to the acting industry.🤍
The "Texas Thespians" is a community for students from Texas who pursue theater. Since I am in my school's theater club - I got an amazing opportunity to visit the festival with my high school's troop.
We left on November 10th - the road took a while and we arrived at the hotel in the late evening. We lived in a historical "Menger" hotel in the town's center, 5 minutes away from the convention center. The best part of it was passing through the famous "Riverwalk" and getting to see the beautiful city every morning before classes.
At the convention I decided to try some new things while still sticking to the familiar: I took a dance floorwork class every day along with a "self audition tape guide", "Chechov's improv movement techniques", "social media for actors" and many other workshops. Most of them were quite informative and provided me with a baggage of new knowledge of the industry.
I also got to watch all the wonderful performances brought by other schools: "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (The set of which was mesmerizing), musicals, monologues, etc.
I found pure joy in the little details of it: active mornings, meeting new people, the antique architecture.
This was surely a perfect way to start my November. I'm eager to see what future experiences my exchange year holds! 🇺🇸📌
