"When we met Par... she already had an irrepressible smile. She was a stranger, but she wasn't intimidated. Living with us would be just another challenge she had set for herself on her way to adulthood. She intended to absorb as much as she could about American life before returning to Bangkok to finish the 12th grade.`"
