As a Program Leader, you’ve witnessed the impact of our high school summer abroad programs! Inspire U.S. students to travel on CIEE programs and give them a $200 discount on the adventure of a lifetime. For your efforts in promoting global education, earn exclusive perks along the way.
What Are the Rewards?
- 1-3 students: A fancy CIEE fleece or equivalent.
- 4-5 students: Invitation—all expenses paid—to our annual Global Educator Summit in an exciting domestic location.
- 6-11 students: No chaperoning duties on your return flight from your high school summer abroad program. Extend your trip with a vacation.
- 12+ students: Two roundtrip flights to a CIEE location of your choice.
- For every student above 12: Earn $100 to cover travel expenses for each confirmed student above 12, maxing out at $500.
Referrals made by Program Leaders are not eligible for cash rewards.

How It Works
- Share your referral link with students.
Log into your my.ciee.org account. Look for your High School Summer Abroad Referrals Dashboard on your Home Page to find your personalized link for you to share.
- They choose their CIEE high school study abroad program.
CIEE offers a wide variety of programs in unique destinations for students to explore a language or academic focus.
- They get a $200 discount toward the price of program tuition.
Your referral allows students to save money on their study abroad costs by automatically getting $200 off their program.
- Start earning exclusive CIEE perks!
Every student that you refer and who travels will count toward greater perks and professional development opportunities. You can track the status of your referrals on your Dashboard by clicking on Check the status of my referrals.

Have Friends Who Could Be Great Program Leaders?
You know better than anyone the qualities needed to lead our high school summer abroad programs! Refer your friends or colleagues to join in on the fun and earn up to $125 for each hired referral. Log into your my.ciee.org account and look for your Program Leader Refer-a-Friend Referral dashboard.
Referral FAQs
You can refer any U.S.-based or international high school student (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors). Rising freshman are not eligible to participate on CIEE high school summer abroad programs. Students must complete 9th grade before traveling.

As a Program Leader, you are not eligible for cash rewards for referring students.
However, you can refer colleagues to be CIEE Program Leaders, and if your referral is hired, you can get paid. For referrals hired for a topic program or Spanish Language & Culture program, you can earn $75. For referrals hired for all other Language & Culture Programs, you can earn $125. To refer Program Leaders, log into your my.ciee.org account and look for your Program Leader Refer-a-Friend Referral dashboard.
Yes, even if you are not an active Program Leader you can still log into your CIEE account and use your referral link to refer students and earn rewards.
Please try to ensure that students use your referral link when initially opening their application, but if you referred a student and they opened an application without your referral link, you can email programleaders@ciee.org with the full name and email address of the student, and we can look into this for you.
