Six Months In...

I have been in Germany for six months now. As the weeks pass, I feel more and more at home. Granted, living in a foreign country, away from family and friends for an entire year might sound unfavorable, however, it does have its perks. This opportunity has been a catalyst for my personal growth. I am forced to overcome my fears and insecurities on a daily basis. Improving my German language skills, and adapting to a new culture is humbling, to say the least. As a U.S. Ambassador, I have the responsibility to challenge stereotypes about America(ns) and represent my country in a positive light. Living and traveling in a foreign country broadened my worldview and redefined my definition of independence. I have four younger host sisters and have taken on the role of the "older sister" for the first time. This positive pressure motivates me to be the best role model I can be. The friends I have made here in Germany profoundly influence and improve my life. In just six months I have evolved into a more mature, aware and confident version of myself. I can hardly wait to see what the future holds!
