It’s Christmas time!

Santa Claus is coming to town.
I didn’t think there would be a big difference between how people in Slovakia and in USA celebrate Christmas. I knew that here December 24th is Christmas Eve and 25th is Christmas Day. Also that Santa Claus brings the gifts not baby Jesus like in my country.

However, I was very surprised that people are decorating their houses and yards with christmas lights. For me Christmas movie was Home Alone. But this year I’ve watched all the famous Christmas classics like It’s a wonderful life, White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street. For dinner I’ve always eaten carp, however this time I could choose between turkey, ham and steak. Every year I hoped that it would snow because what would Christmas be like without snow? Unfortunately, it was raining both in Orange Park and Bratislava.

Right after the school ended for winter break, me and my host family went to Kennedy Space Center. I’ve learnt more about the US history there. It was an amazing experience to see the Saturn V rocket, Atlantis space shuttle, meet an astronaut named Norman Thagard and watch an actual rocket launch.

I wish you a happy New Year!
