Arrival: First Impressions of U.S.

Authored By:

The US is a country on the other side of the ocean from China. Before I came to the US, I just traveled. This time, it was a real life. The US and China are far from each other in terms of culture, diet and lifestyle. The first problem in coming to the US is not the confusion of learning, the lack of communication, but the adaptation to the US.

The United States and China have their own strengths. The United States has many things that I should learn from and learn from China. This is a big economic country, and there are many high-tech agriculture. When I came to Kentucky(where I live, I deeply realized this point. In the United States, people also love sports very much. In China, maybe 60% of people watch sports games or know some sports events. But I think at least 90 percent of people in the United States like sports and have their own team. There are three major traditional sports events in the United States: rugby, basketball and baseball, which is one of the things I admire very much about the United States. Because I love playing basketball very much, so the American sports culture there makes me covet for a long time. Another purpose of my exchange student here is to feel the sports culture here and record it.

At first, I was worried about whether I could integrate into American life. Later, I found that it was not difficult. I also worried that I could not get used to American food and that I would violate some American customs. But my houst parents are very understanding and tolerant of me. They will tell me a lot about culture. I get along with them very well, because they all work in Toyota(in our place, almost everyone works for Toyota), and my host father has been to Japan many times, so they also know our culture very well, and they also like Chinese traditional culture very much.

In the United States, people in different parts of the country also have different customs. They also have many unknown places. We will learn and understand together in this process.  It has been a month since I came to the United States, and I have gradually adapted to the rhythm of life here. I think that in most public schools, the rhythm of life of most students is very slow, which is very different from China. After school, I can do a lot of after-school activities, play basketball and rugby every day, very much. Relaxed.

I will record every bit of my study in the United States in this way, so that my study this time is full of color, without regret!
