Calling out all First Year Abroad, High School Semester Abroad, and Gap Year Abroad participants!
This fall, CIEE wants to collaborate with you to promote our semester or academic year-long programs and encourage other high school students to take the leap to go abroad. Through our Ambassador program, you’ll make a positive impact on your peers and community by sharing your journey, whether it’s through social media, photography, at virtual events, and more.
In return, you will receive the following:
- A $1,500 grant (paid as a tuition credit and a gift card)
- $200 referral bonuses for every student that you refer who travels on a CIEE program. You will have opportunities to share your referral code with prospective students during takeovers, events, etc. as part of the Ambassador program

FAQ's
To become an Ambassador, you must:
- Be enrolled in a CIEE First Year Abroad (FYA), High School Semester Abroad (HSA), or Gap Year Abroad program for the Fall or Academic Year of 2024. Please note, students who have not fully completed their application will still be considered but will need to meet the required deadlines in order to remain eligible.
- Have a strong presence on at least one social media platform (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.) or experience with blogging, videography, or photography.
- Demonstrate creativity and storytelling skills.
- Have a passion for travel and international education.
Over the course of 12-weeks, Ambassadors will complete projects to share their FYA, Gap, or HSA experience and inspire others. These activities fall into two categories: content creation and engagement. We may add more options later, and we welcome your suggestions!
- Content Creation - Ambassadors are required to complete all tasks from this section:
- Create 1 Instagram or TikTok post twice per week for 12 weeks inspired by your program and tag CIEE’s account. Topic suggestions from the CIEE team will be provided.
- Choose one of the following:
- Create 3 YouTube videos of your experience and share them with the CIEE marketing team. Videos must be a minimum of 2 minutes long.
- Create 3 blog posts of your experience and share with the CIEE marketing team.
- A combination of the two bullets above (for example, 2 blog posts and 1 YouTube video)
- Participate in a Day in the Life Instagram takeover of the CIEE Global Navigator account.
- Share at least 50 of your favorite photos in full resolution, documenting the highlights of your trip (excursions, landmarks, etc.)
- Engagement – Ambassadors are required to complete at least 1 task from this section:
- Speak at an event (for example, an information session over Zoom, an Instagram live, etc.).
- Do a takeover of your high school’s Instagram account and promote your experience abroad.
To be successful as an Ambassador, your content must be engaging, informative, and visually appealing. It should also highlight various aspects of your program, including academics, cultural immersion, personal growth, and travel adventures.
- Students interested in the Ambassador program will submit an application that includes:
- A brief biography highlighting their experience and passion for travel/international education.
- Links to their social media profiles and/or a portfolio of their creative work (photography, blog posts, videography, etc.).
- A short proposal outlining their content ideas for the FYA, HSA or Gap program, including their preferred platforms and planned content.
- A selection committee comprised of members of the CIEE marketing team will review applications and select grantees based on the criteria mentioned above.
- The deadline to apply for the Fall Ambassadors Abroad program is July 1, 2024.
- Selected Ambassadors will be notified on a rolling basis through the end of June.
- We will deduct $1,000 from your tuition balance shortly after we notify you of your acceptance. Additionally, you will receive a $500 visa gift card upon successful completion of the program. For every student you refer as part of the Ambassador program, you will receive $200 if they travel with us. Payouts will happen per the terms outlined on the CIEE Refer-a-Friend Rewards page.
