CIEE Leading Change in Study Abroad Matching Grants
As a changemaker in the field of study abroad, CIEE pledged to provide $4M over four years in matching grants to support colleges and universities who seek to increase access to study abroad and establish new program models that advance institutional and student success goals.
Strategies for Leading Change
Three nationally recognized institutions of higher education were selected to receive $1 million over four years to establish new study abroad programs that will advance institutional goals while improving student outcomes. Each of the winners pledged to match CIEE’s $1 million grant resulting in a total of $6 million in funding over four years to implement bold programs that:
- Advance both institutional and student success goals
- Expand access to students from all backgrounds and academic majors
- Improve our world through impactful student engagement abroad
Arizona State University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Early Start Global Accelerator Program helps improve student retention and graduation rates for high-risk, first-year students.
The program brings first-year students to the cloud forest of Monteverde for a nine-day study abroad program on Costa Rican culture, environmental science, and sustainability.
