The Birthplace of Golf in Taiwan
The Taiwan Golf & Country Club, founded in 1919, was the first golf course in Taiwan, established during the Japanese colonial era. The former site is now part of the Taiwanese Golf History Museum in Tamsui, preserving its cultural legacy.

A Historic Celebration
In 1992, Taipei's Sunrise Golf & Country Club hosted the Sunrise Cup World Team Championship, an unofficial Ladies European Tour team event. Played by pairs of female players from around the world, it was won by Liselotte Neumann and Helen Alfredsson.

A Showcase for World-Class Women's Golf
Since 2011, Taipei has hosted the prestigious LPGA Taiwan Championship. It was the very first LPGA Tour event in Taiwan, drawing top international talent, with Inbee Park setting the tournament scoring record (−22 in 2014). It has not been help since 2019 in light of COVID-19.
