Where in Thailand? Wang Chan, Rayong
Bio: I grew up constantly moving around the United States, living in eight towns between five states by the time I was eighteen. Elon University became my home after high school; there, I majored in English and Environmental Studies while devoting my free time to public service both internationally and locally.
Through a program called Periclean Scholars, I worked in partnership with the nonprofit organization Comprehensive Rural Health Project in Jamkhed, India to further programs addressing public health and women’s empowerment issues. Locally, I spent four years tutoring children at a refugee community center in Greensboro, North Carolina. Traveling around India and Central America during college taught me that nothing inspires or energizes me more than meeting new people while exploring new places. I couldn’t be more excited for my next adventure: Thailand!

Where in Thailand? Phan Thong, Chonburi
Bio: Starting out in Illinois, I've moved to Florida, to Spain, and now to Thailand. Not much logic in that progression, but I am venturing farther from the comforts of home (namely deep dish pizza, movie theaters and toilet paper, in that order). Luckily there's still plenty of globe to trot, so join me on my adventures, won't you?

Where in Thailand? Nakhon Pathom
Bio: It started the day Mary's siblings locked her in a dog crate stuffed full of couch cushions and rolled her down two flights of stairs. Enough was enough. While her seven siblings were off spraying the neighbor’s dog with a hose, Mary was also spraying the neighbor’s dog with a hose, just after finishing her homework.
She graduated from Indiana University, first pursuing a Master in the Custodial Arts, then switching to English in which she won the Richard L. Edwards award. The money was donated to Childreach International with whom she traveled to Peru for nonprofit work in education. She appreciates large noses, humor, scuba diving and the occasional bag of Doritos. If the moods right.

Where in Thailand? Sam Phran, Nokon Pathom
Bio: As a first generation American, born to an Indonesian father, I have long dreamt of living in Southeast Asia. To say that traveling to Thailand to teach is a dream would be a massive understatement. When a moment in my life paused and the opportunity to move to Thailand was presented I leapt toward it with open arms. I strongly believe that life is what you make of it. And with that, I choose to grab the “bull by the horns” and ride it for as long as possible. I am a born and raised Portlander. As if it were an art form, I can describe the coming and going of rain simply based by the scent in the air. I leave behind a beloved dog and a growing career in marketing in hopes of pursuing my dreams and living a life full of passion.
