About London

A city with a rich and celebrated history, London is the hub of British business and government and one of the world’s most important cultural centers. The South Bank Complex, with the National Theater, Royal Festival Hall, and National Film Theater, can be reached easily by bus or railway, as can the theaters of the West End and Shakespeare’s Globe, as well as countless museums and galleries. Part of the excitement of living in London comes from the international allure of the many different ethnic, religious, and cultural groups who call it home.

Where You'll Study

University of Westminster

The University of Westminster was Britain’s first Polytechnic opening in 1838 and rededicated in 1992 as the University of Westminster. The University, with a student population of 22,000, has four academic centers, with its main administrative offices in central London. Harrow Campus, which houses the communications, design, media, and business departments, is located 30 minutes by tube from central London. Each academic center is divided into schools specializing in various academic and professional disciplines.

Thoughts From Abroad

Celebrated by Time Magazine as ‘the coolest city on the planet,’ London is home to over seven million people. As the largest city in Europe, London is over 30 miles from east to west and covers over 650 square miles. With campuses located throughout London, the University of Westminster encourages students to discover several areas of London as a Londoner, not a tourist.

Known for its vibrant art, music, and fashion scenes, London has an array of cultures and influences—300 museums, 250 art galleries, and 200 theaters. Although London is vast, public transportation makes it simple to engage in the cultural attractions such as the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, West End theatre, museums, Hyde Park, and London’s best known shopping quarter—Oxford Street. Whatever your interests are, London offers something for everyone!
