Program Evaluations Ensure a Quality Training Experience
One thing that makes CIEE Internship USA and Professional Career Training USA so successful at delivering the best possible professional development and cultural exchange experience is the program evaluation. This powerful tool is a way for both CIEE and the U.S. Department of State to make certain that J-1 exchange programs are meeting objectives.
Evaluations are comprised of two separate online questionnaires: one to be completed by the intern or trainee, and the second to be completed by the host organization supervisor. This provides two independent points of view that can be used to assess the success of the program and to improve the quality of all CIEE programs. Shortly before evaluations are due, CIEE will email the host organization supervisor and participant separate links and instructions for completing the evaluation questionnaires.
There will be two evaluations during the program – one at the program’s midpoint and one at the program’s conclusion. It’s important that these be completed and returned on time, because they’re a U.S. Department of State requirement of the J-1 Visa Exchange Visitor Program. If Problems Arise
From time to time, things may not go smoothly in the workplace. Host organizations may have concerns about performance, or participants may believe the conditions of their DS-7002 are not being met. Most issues result from poor or incomplete communication and can be resolved when problems are discussed and expectations are established.
Thanks to CIEE’s ongoing support, termination is extremely rare. CIEE urges all host organizations to discuss performance directly with the participant before a situation reaches a point where the position needs to be terminated.
