CIEE Camp Exchange USA Application Process

We’re excited you have decided to apply to be a camp counselor through CIEE Camp Exchange USA! Here are details on what to expect as you move forward in the application and placement process.

1. Apply to CIEE Camp Exchange USA Through Your Local Representative
Apply online through your local representative. Don’t forget to follow our tips for submitting a strong application! Once you apply, your representative will contact you to gather any missing information, answer questions, and schedule a face-to-face interview.

2. Once You’re Accepted By CIEE
Now that you have officially been accepted into the program, CIEE will send your full application, documentation, and profile to camps for consideration. Camps will review your application and may contact you by email or Skype to set up a time to learn more about you. Be as available as possible!

It may take up to several months to receive a placement. Don’t worry, but always be in contact with your local representative to see what you can do to make your application stand out!

Once placed with a camp, you will sign the Placement Agreement Form and receive your DS-2019 Form.

3. Prepare for Your Journey
It’s time to get ready for your trip to the U.S.! Most important: attend your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. You will also attend a pre-departure orientation before you leave on your adventure, which will provide important tips, tricks, and advice on living in America and working at camp.

Now, travel to the U.S.!

4. Arrive in the U.S.
When you first arrive in the U.S., you will attend a CIEE Camp Exchange USA Meet & Greet to ease you into American life. After a day of fun activities and lots of new information, you will travel to your assigned camp, where you will spend a week training with your fellow counselors before campers start to arrive.

5. Enjoy The Camp Experience and Get Out And Explore America!
