Build your resume and gain international teaching experience in London, the capital of the United Kingdom which never runs shy of excitement or attractions.
During this intensive two-week program you will develop your English teaching skills in a real-world environment. You will spend 40 hours learning from an expert ESL teacher trainer and then will apply what you learn with 20 hours of in-classroom experience split between observation and active teaching. This program is designed for candidates who will complete at least 120 hours of TEFL certification prior to arriving in London or experienced teachers who want to further develop their English teaching skills.

About Our Program Fees
CIEE, a non-profit organization, has been sending university graduates abroad to teach English since 1997. Our express programs allow you to experience teaching abroad in a realistic setting with guidance and training from professionals in the UK. This includes 60 hours of professional development; 20 hours of structured practicum and 40 hours of teacher training. This program has a $1,300 program fee to cover the costs of operating the program. When combined with CIEE’s 150-hour TEFL certificate, the cost of the program is $2,000.

You will spend two weeks in the capital of the UK and one of Europe's most historically rich cities stretching back to Roman times.
Teacher training sessions are held at CIEE’s Global Institute in London, centrally located from all that London has to offer. So when the workday is over, visit the Natural History Museum located in South Kensington. Admission is free and the architecture is stunning! See a show! London’s theater scene is one of the most diverse in the world. Check out the “West End”, an area where the city’s fringe theaters put on some of the best and cheapest shows. Hop on the famous London Eye and have a bird’s eye view of the most famous sights in London!

This intensive 2 week training program includes a mix of 20 hours guided practicum with 40 hours of teacher training. Completing the training will result in a completion certificate. The topics that will be covered include:
- Intercultural Teaching and Learning
- Reflective Teaching and Action Research Planning
- Classroom Management
- Differentiation of Instruction to Meet Learner Needs
- Tailored Lesson Planning (teaching a specific age group, topic, etc.)
- Use of Instructional Materials
- Philosophy of Teaching
20 hours structured practicum
The practicum hours are a mix of observation and active teaching. Active teaching will be a blend of co-teaching and lead teaching (depending on the cohort size). We are planning to partner with a local refugee organization to set up English training classes. The timing and age range of the classes will be solidified in early spring 2020.
40 Hours Teacher Training
Classes are held at the CIEE Global Institute London, located in the heart of Bloomsbury, one of the most vibrant and student-populated neighborhoods of central London. It features Georgian-style architecture, 10 classrooms, a café, garden terrace, and tech zone. Teacher trainings will be spread out over the 2 weeks, typically in the afternoon. Classroom trainings are taught by an experienced TEFL professional with many years of experience.
