The government has made improving English skills a national imperative, and this creates a high demand for qualified English teachers throughout the country. Now’s the time to embrace this opportunity and make a difference by teaching English in Chile. Spend 9 months in Chile, teaching adults and children, and in your off time explore the unique natural landscape and city of Santiago. Along the way, you’ll improve your Spanish, expand your international resume, and help others.

About Our Program Fees
CIEE, a non-profit organization, has been sending university graduates abroad to teach English since 1997. Our program in Chile includes CIEE’s online TEFL certification, orientation on arrival, and a high level of support throughout your experience (see all features below). To cover those costs, there is a program fee of $2,900. Once we accept your application, there is a $1,000 deposit to reserve your spot and start your TEFL training. The second and final payment ($1,900) is due a few months later after you accept a job offer from a Chilean school. CIEE alumni receive a 5% discount!

Chile is an exciting destination for those who love the outdoors. You can ski in the Andes east of Santiago, or eat seafood in a beachfront café in Viña del Mar before dipping your toes in warm, white sand. Those with a sense of adventure can use their time off to travel, exploring places like the starkly beautiful Atacama Desert, the mysterious stone idols of Easter Island, or the glaciers far to the south. Teach in Chile - Professional assignments are centered in homes and businesses in the capital city of Santiago and the southern coastal city of Concepcion.

Work as a private English instructor in Chile! You won’t have a permanent classroom; instead, you will instruct students one-on-one or in small groups. You’ll visit their homes, businesses and schools and get to know their families too.
You’ll work with a well-regarded language training company and spend part of your day teaching children and part of your day teaching adult professional, helping both groups develop their English skills.
The program is conducted in partnership with a leading Chilean language instruction company based in Santiago. With Teach in Chile Professional, your role is to find the best way to help individuals learn. You will be given a detailed course plan for each program to give you a firm foundation. The planning and preparation of individual lessons, however, is up to you. That means you’ll have plenty of room for creativity and exploration within the established curriculum.
The Teach in Chile – Professional program offers a guaranteed minimum income of 515,000 CLP per month (after taxes), with additional pay depending on available assignments. The minimum is enough to support your basic living expenses after you arrive. You will need to bring additional funds to cover your first month as well as any major travel within Chile or in South America.
Participation in Teach in Chile – Professional is a full-time commitment. Classes are held in students’ homes, offices or schools Monday through Friday in the mornings and afternoons, but you may have a few classes as early as 8 a.m. and as late as 8 p.m. You will have 15-20 contact teaching hours per week, as well as at least that much time commuting between client locations. With vacation time built into the program, you’ll be able to get out and explore Chile’s diverse natural beauty.
