Honestly, living with a host family has surprised me in the best ways possible than I ever thought possible. Of course, I was terrified on the first day meeting them because they were complete strangers and I did not know at all what the house dynamic would be or whether or not they would like me. But, I was left with a great and welcoming first impression when I first met my new family members because they were so patient and really pushed me to speak French, even though I made a ton of mistakes! That immediately put me at ease and the first meal we had consisted of delicious chicken with grilled vegetables that left my mouth content and my heart even happier. Fast forward to now, my host family continues being wonderful and their willingness to show Sophie and I Rennes and many of its cultural parts continues to feed my curiosity and to make my trip here even more worthwhile! It is with them that I learned how to ride a bike, got over my fear of cats, and continue to try interesting and delicious foods I never thought I would ever put in my mouth. My new family is wonderful and everyday my love and comfort with them continues to grow!
