It is hard to belive that this is the final week of the program!  Students have been participating in some exciting cultural activities this week to close out their time here.

Park Güell

Students visited Park Güell, which is one of the most famous landmarks in Barcelona.  This spectacular park was designed and built by Gaudí in the early 1900's and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984.  It offers great panoramic views of the city and is very colorful, thanks to Gaudí's broken-tile mosaics.  The students enjoyed a fun scavenger hunt in the park, created by CIEE interns Lidia and Agustín.

Las Golondrinas

Students were treated to a boat ride tour and got to see Barcelona from a new perspective - from the water.  Highlights included the skyline of Barcelona, the beaches and the port of Barcelona.  It was a hot day, but the ocean breeze was refreshing.

Tapas workshop

Students enjoyed preparing and eating tapas at this week's workshop.  They prepared several different dishes: tortilla de patata, empanadillas de atún and montaditos with tuna, and nata de pimiento de piquillo and surimi salad montaditos.  Each student got to prepare their own tortilla (Spanish omelet with egg and potatoes) and then eat the tapas at a nearby plaza.
