On fait le pont!
The first day of classes for our HSSA students was on Tuesday. After class and orientation, we did a walking tour with a guide to learn more about the Carmes neighborhood where the Institut Catholique de Toulouse (ICT), the school, is located.
Toulouse and southwest France have been experiencing a heatwave, so our cultural activities on Wednesday were a fun opportunity to cool off and visit some new places in Toulouse. Students were able to choose between the Piscine Nakache (the largest pool in Western Europe!), the Muséum d’histoire naturelle (a natural history museum), the Quai des Savoirs, and le Castelet à Saint-Michel, a former prison.
Thursday was le 14 juillet, the national holiday in France, also known as Bastille Day. Students were able to “faire le pont” (“make the bridge to the weekend”), and take advantage of a long, 4-day weekend to explore Toulouse with friends and spend time with their host family.
