Yesterday we toured Alumaina, the Royal Palace of Mallorca once inhabitied by King Jaime II. Built in 1309, this palace has hosted many visitors including the American presidents. As we walked the halls, we learned about everything from the tapestries and furnishings to the defense systems and armor. The Mediterranean Sea once rose to the walls of this palace, but today the city has been built beyond it to include the Paseo Marítimo and the Port buildings. Our guide delivered all of the information in Spanish, and many students were surprised by how much they understood!
