A nonprofit, non-governmental organization, CIEE is the world leader in international education and exchange. For 65 years, CIEE has helped thousands of students, professionals, and educators gain the knowledge and skills necessary to live and work in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world by offering the most comprehensive, relevant, and valuable exchange programs available.
CIEE began offering International Faculty Development Seminars (IFDS) in 1990 to help U.S. colleges and universities internationalize curricula. Since then, CIEE has run more than 320 faculty seminars in more than 40 countries, helping over 4,000 faculty and administrators from 800 U.S. and foreign institutions of higher education gain insight into alternate worldviews, hear diverse voices from an international community, and access innovative approaches to learning and problem solving—all of which increase international awareness and transforms campuses.
Academic Consortium Membership
CIEE’s ability to provide critical programs and services is driven by our Academic Consortium (AC) member schools, a diverse and active group of nearly 300 leading public and private colleges and universities. AC member schools influence the field of study abroad, play a key role in innovative program development, research, and evaluation, have access to exclusive student financial aid, and participate in exemplary faculty and staff development programs. AC member schools also receive $2,000 in IFDS grants each year to facilitate faculty development.
