To maximize your study abroad opportunities, it’s best to start planning as early as possible. The IU Office of Overseas Study outlines some helpful planning tips, including applying for a passport, working closely with your academic advisor(s) and study abroad advisor(s), talking with returnees, and researching financial considerations.

Application deadlines are program-specific and are determined shortly before applications open; however, generally deadlines are as follows:

  • Summer programs: mid-January to early February
  • Fall programs: late January to late February
  • Academic year programs: late January to early February
  • Spring programs: early to late September
