Excursions & Activities
CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Taipei will open doors for you to explore Taiwan's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.
Samples of past excursions and activities:
- Hanging around in Ximending, a popular area for shopping and entertainment
- Visiting Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, home to stunning architecture
- Taking day trips to Dadaocheng and Bopiliao, where you’ll wander among the red brick buildings and alleyways that have stood in place for more than 100 years

Housing & Meals
Housing
We currently offer the following accommodations:
- Residence Hotel: CIEE has partnered with a clean, spacious hotel facility located in the Datung District with easy access to MRT, GYM, a convenience store, restaurants, and bus stations. The hotel is just five minutes from shopping, sightseeing, and great parks.
- Chientan Youth Activity Center: This government-run center can house up to 1,000 residents and offers room and board. It also provides classrooms, activity centers, and training centers for educational use and for group activities. The center is surrounded by trees, close to parks, and within walking distance of MRT Shihlin Station.
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive. Non-standard housing options require an additional fee that can be found in the program Dates and Fees.
Meals
There are many reasonably priced restaurants nearby.
Academics
CIEE Taipei: Study on the Campus of CIEE’s esteemed partner institution, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), located in Northern Taiwan. CIEE Taipei features a library and study space, public computers, and complimentary Wi-Fi access. On campus, students can access all the amenities and facilities NTNU offers, including outdoor facilities, although booking in advance may be required.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.

CIEE offers the most student support of any provider in its program fee, including an airport greeting, full-time leadership and support, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, pre-departure advising, and CIEE iNext travel protection with benefits.

Financial Aid
CIEE offers the most grants and scholarships of any study abroad organization, including $8 million/year in travel grants, merit-based scholarships, institutional and MSI grants, and Gilman Go Global Grants.
