The city’s particular location between Highland and Lowland Scotland and its distance from Edinburgh, the country’s capital, make Glasgow a prosperous market center. Not only is Glasgow the largest city in Scotland – it’s also the largest economic region of the country, and accounts for a third of Scotland’s business base, research, power, and employment opportunities.
When you study abroad in Glasgow, you’ll quickly discover why this city is considered one of the friendliest in the world. Glaswegians are known for their warmth and welcoming hospitality, making this city a lovely place to become better acquainted with Scottish tradition and charm. Housing & Meals
Housing
CIEE Glasgow offers two housing options to ensure you're comfortable in your home away from home: A homestay or a single room or double room in a shared apartment or residence hall. Additionally, all housing options are located in neighborhoods with convenient access to public transportation, shops, cafés, and eateries.
Standard Housing: Includes a single room at a homestay or a single/double room in a shared apartment/residence hall located under 45 minutes from CIEE Glasgow.
- Homestays: Homestays feature a kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared with a host family.
- Shared Apartments/Residence Halls: Apartments and residence halls boast kitchens, common areas, and laundry facilities shared with other students.
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive.
Meals
- Homestays: Homestay students have breakfast and dinner with their host families, and they are responsible for lunch.
- Shared Apartments/Residence Halls: Meals are not included. You will be provided with all the kitchen equipment you should require.
Transportation
Commute time from housing location to internship will vary depending on the location of the internship provider.
Academics
As a CIEE intern in Glasgow, you’ll have access to a diverse set of industries and service work placements in unpaid positions. Extra-curricular cultural activities in and around Glasgow complement your coursework and immerse you in the history and culture of the city and surrounding Highlands of Scotland

Dates & Fees
You get more for every dollar when you study abroad with CIEE, because our high-quality programs include everything from excursions to insurance. There are no hidden charges, and no disappointing surprises when you arrive.
To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.

CIEE offers the most student support of any provider in its program fee, including an airport greeting, full-time leadership and support, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, pre-departure advising, and CIEE iNext travel protection with benefits.
