London has a history stretching back to the Romans, there are four World Heritage sites, leading museums and plenty of green spaces. A contemporary global city, London is home to almost 9 million people from all over the world. A major financial center and leading hub for the arts London has many eclectic neighborhoods to discover.

  • HOUSING

    Housing will be in either a residence hall or shared apartments centrally located in Bloomsbury, Farringdon or Kings Cross. Students will share twin or triple rooms.

    No meals are provided in London but students will have access to kitchen facilities to cook their own meals.

What you need to know

The program details

This program is based at the CIEE Global Institute in the heart of Bloomsbury, one of the most vibrant neighborhoods of central London. Our new campus features Georgian-style architecture, 10 classrooms, a café, terrace, and tech zone. Plus, it’s right near the British Museum, University College London, and SOAS, University of London.

Courses are taught by faculty from London institutions and visiting faculty from around the world. A team of CIEE faculty serve as academic coordinators and professors, and also set up guest lectures, excursions, and activities.

Academics

  • CLASS FORMAT

    Class environment varies by course. CIEE courses are only open to CIEE students, and follow U.S. academic culture and standards.

  • GRADING

    Professors use the U.S. grading scale of A-F. Final grades are determined by class participation, homework, individual project work, presentations, and mid-term and final exams.

  • ACADEMIC CULTURE

    Each course packs a semester of content into four weeks – the pace is quick and the work is demanding. Attendance is mandatory. Travel should be planned around the program schedule.

Eligibility

  • OVERALL GPA

    Students need to have a GPA of at least 2.5.

Curriculum

Program Credit

  • Total credit: 3 semester/4.5 quarter hours per session (Students choose to enroll in one, two, or three sessions).
  • Students take one course (45 contact hours) per four-week session.
