Home of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games, London is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city. London is at the cutting edge of the arts scene and provides access to music, fashion, museums (which are all free!), comedy, and theater. There are abundant opportunities for enjoying summer in London – with eight Royal Parks right in the heart of the city and more green space than any comparable city in the world.

The Culture

EXCURSIONS & ACTIVITIES

Research the challenges facing the British National Health Service, which operates the vast majority of the country’s hospitals and has made medical care available to all citizens.

Take day trips to neighboring cities, such as Cambridge or Portsmouth.

Watch (or play!) a game of cricket.

Visit Regent's Park, featuring the London Zoo, the world's oldest scientific zoo, and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.

  • HOUSING

    Housing will be in either a residence hall or shared apartments centrally located in Bloomsbury, Farringdon or Kings Cross. Students will share twin or triple rooms.

  • MEALS

    No meals are provided in London but students will have access to kitchen facilities to cook their own meals.

The program details

The CIEE Global Institute combines the best of both worlds, with a U.S.-style residence life integrated with a British neighborhood. Located in the heart of Bloomsbury, one of the most vibrant and student-populated neighborhoods of central London, the campus offers easy access to one of the city’s largest Royal Parks, restaurants and cafés, and a wide variety of shops.

The CIEE Global Institute London features numerous modern classrooms, an onsite café, a quiet study room, and comfortable common areas.

Academics

  • CLASS FORMAT

    All courses are for CIEE students only.

  • GRADING

    Assessment is based on the individual’s overall performance in the course, including coursework, presentations, and essays. Students must check with their professors to find out exam and project presentation dates. Under no circumstances will CIEE alter deadlines or exam dates for students who have made conflicting travel plans.

  • ACADEMIC CULTURE

    CIEE classes are taught at the CIEE Study Center, and are designed to follow U.S. academic culture.

Eligibility

  • OVERALL GPA

    Students need to have a GPA of at least 2.5.
