Study Tours & Cultural Excursions
Every CIEE semester program has cultural excursions and study tours uniquely designed to complement the program’s academics and enhance students’ cultural immersion. In Cusco, past study tours and excursions have included:
- Exploring the wonder of Machu Picchu
- Strolling the stepped terraces of Ollantaytambo and the nearby Maras salt ponds
- Taking in the grandeur of Sacsayhuaman – former Inca citadel
- Learning traditional textile weaving through the Awanacancha Textile Market
Where Students Study
CIEE Cusco Located in the modern Magisterio neighborhood, CIEE Cusco has a cozy atmosphere with classrooms, a garden-patio, and a rooftop terrace to take-in the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Students have easy access to nearby shops, cafés, restaurants, and public transportation. Most host families live within walking distance of CIEE and the city’s historic center is just a 15-minute bus ride.
Internships & Volunteering
Depending on their program of study and availability, students may be able to participate in an internship or volunteer. In Cusco, students can volunteer to help teachers in the fields of psychology, marketing, or management through Aldea Yanapay NGO or improve their leadership skills by volunteering with Palccaraqui NGO.
