Study Tours & Cultural Excursions
Every CIEE semester program has frequent cultural excursions and a multi-day study tour uniquely designed to complement the program’s academics and enhance students’ cultural immersion. In Hyderabad, past study tours and excursions have included:
- Visits to Varanasi, the holiest of the seven sacred cities in Hinduism and Jainism, with a key role in the development of Buddhism
- Trips to Borra Caves and Araku Valley, Hampi, Anegundi, or Badami
- Exploring Buddhist, Jain, and Hindu temples
- Tours of the folk goddess temple, Peddamma, and the biggest Ganesha idol in Hyderabad

University of Hyderabad
Founded in 1974, the university was ranked number one in India in 2010 by the Times of India and won the Visitor’s Awards for Central Universities for Best University, Innovation, and Research for 2015. Primarily a post-graduate university with 5,000 students and 12 schools, it has a sprawling 2,300- acre campus, located 45 minutes from downtown.
Internships & Volunteering
Depending on their program of study and availability, students may be able to participate in an internship or volunteer. In Hyderabad, students can volunteer to build school gardens, tutor orphaned boys, teach English and self-esteem to girls, design marketing material and/or websites for NGOs, or develop interventions for minority communities.
