Every CIEE semester program has frequent cultural excursions and a multi-day study tour uniquely designed to complement the program’s academics and enhance students’ cultural immersion. In Nanjing, past study tours and excursions have included:
- Field trips to the Presidential Palace, where Chinese democracy was born, walks atop the city’s 600-year-old wall, and boat rides on beautiful Xuanwu Lake
- Opportunities to learn outside the box and make Chinese dumplings, learn calligraphy and traditional painting, hold dragon boat races, or dine with Chinese families
- Excursions to the Northwest to travel along The Silk Road and discover Buddhist relics
- Learning about panda sanctuaries in Sichuan and hikes on Mt. Qingcheng, birthplace of Chinese Taoism
