Every CIEE semester program has frequent cultural excursions and a multi-day study tour uniquely designed to complement the program’s academics and enhance students’ cultural immersion. In Wollongong, past study tours and excursions have included:

  • Hiking and rappelling in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains to see scenic waterfalls and some of the more than 400 different creatures that live there
  • Surfing lessons or trips to Australian football matches 
  • Guided tours up a sacred mountain in New South Wales, with an insightful Aboriginal guide, to stay in beachfront cabins surrounded by a stunning national park 
  • Excursions to the Australian bush to look for kangaroos, lizards, and wallabies, with insights from a naturalist
