One of Prague’s greatest literary figures, Franz Kafka, once said, “Prague never lets you go… this dear little mother has sharp claws.”
Those who spend any amount of time here, quickly realize why.
Study abroad in Prague this January and get an immersive experience in one of the most beautiful, cultural, and intellectual capitals in Europe. Earn three credits in Psychoanalysis and Art where you’ll explore psychoanalytical theories and how psychoanalysis can help us understand the powerful phenomenon of being confronted with a work of art. Through a combination of in-class lectures, movies, and fields trips, including a trip to Vienna, you’ll experience the history and practice of psychology from a unique vantage point.
Classes are held in a 19th century building where you’ll walk pass numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites. Prague is situated in the heart of Europe, and home to historical monuments and a rich cultural life. This monumental city brings you to the heart of festivals, theaters, music, and, of course, traditional Czech restuarants where you can taste the delicious local cuisine, from goulash to fried cheese and bread dumplings with cherry sauce.
J-term in Prague promises more than academics. On our excursions and co-curricular activities, you’ll explore the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, tour museums and historical sites, visit the Prague Zoo, and connect with a CIEE “Flat Buddy” who will organize cultural activites.
Whether you're a history buff, architect geek, or eclectic music fan, there's a piece of Prague waiting for you this January.
