Annecy, dubbed the “Venice of the Alps,” is an alpine town in southeastern France, where Lake Annecy feeds into the Thiou River. The city is known for its picturesque old town with cobblestone streets, whimsical canals, and pastel-colored houses. My friend and I took a train from Paris and landed in this dreamy city located in Haute Savoie.

We spent our Saturday listening to records at the coffee shop, strolling through old town, swimming in the pristine waters of Lake Annecy, and appreciating local cuisine. On Sunday, we spent the morning at the Annecy market with stalls lining old town’s streets and bustling with local and visitors alike. We biked around the lake and snacked on Moroccan pastries, bought from the market, on flower-sprinkled grass by the lake.
