Zoe Swartz was a CIEE Khon Kaen Development and Globalization program student in Fall 2013. Originally from Boston, Zoe spent the last four years at Tulane University in New Orleans, where she graduated with a BA in Environmental Studies and International Development. Zoe loved living in New Orleans and was highly involved with urban farming and environmental activism around the city. She co-led Tulane’s urban gardening and food justice club.Throughout her college years, Zoe worked at the Tulane University Center for Public Service, coordinating between students and community partners to facilitate service learning classes. Zoe also devoted much of her time to pursuing her passion for ceramic arts, and still does art in her free time in Thailand. Before working for CIEE Khon Kaen, Zoe spent many summers working as a camp counselor, working with kids ages 9-15. Over the summer of 2013 Zoe received a grant to design and implement an environmental education curriculum for children living in Mache Chindul Ecological Reserve of Northwest Ecuador. In her free time, Zoe likes seeing live music, biking, cooking with friends, and exploring the great outdoors.
